If any of you readers have a special story, or comments you wish to share that will enrich, uplift and add something for our audience to ponder, please send it to my email that follows. Moving into 2015 with the abundantly rich energy that is being cultivated on our planet at this time requires our hearts to be fed. There is enough "food" for our often worrisome souls, what we are requesting is words or insights that will assist those finding or following this blog to consider the joyful experiences, aha moments, positive realizations, and any other word phrases that can be used to describe HOPE. As all of us know, peaks are reached after walks in the valley and the ascending trail that winds and turns along the way. It is in the set backs that we discover our true strength.

Some years it seems like I am unable to connect with the spirit of Christmas, really feeling the teachings of Jesus and the reason for the season. This was one of those years. I could feel the resistance right after Thanksgiving when it was time to put up the Christmas decorations. I didn't want to decorate or send cards or listen to Christmas music but I did all those things anyway in hopes that something would trigger that sweetness I had felt in the past and that my heart was yearning for.
Like many of us during the holidays, I continued with my busy schedule and while traveling for work, my heart's yearning was heard from the universe and my path crossed with a lovely older man. I noticed he was tall and thin and wearing beautiful, brown corduroy pants when he walked past me and said "excuse me". My eyes couldn't help but follow him and watch him sit down by himself without any bags. As I continued eating my snack, I watched him but it was more than that. I was being drawn to him. I couldn't help myself so when I finished eating, I walked over, bent down and with my hand on his knee (I couldn't help myself to not touch him and I restrained because I really wanted to just hug him), I asked him if him wanted something to drink. He politely declined but I pushed a little and suggested at least some water. And to see this man's face when I returned with the bottled water AND a cookie, warmed my heart.....ahhh the spirit of Christmas.
I asked him if I could join him and we began to speak about family, work, and life. He stated almost immediately that he had recently lost his wife of 59 years and that his pain and sadness where indescribable. He told me his wife was Irish and had beautiful strawberry, blond hair and when he spoke of her, you could see in his eyes the deep love he holds for her. He said that he wished he had died first because the pain of the loss was so great. It reminded me of something I had read and shared with him...A man talked about the same thing, being married for many years and the fear of the pain and loss when one of them would die. This man said that he wanted his wife to die first, that way she would not have to experience the pain of living without him.....After I finished, my new friend had a new prospective. Maybe he would see his pain as a gift, something he would experience so his wife wouldn't have to.
And we walked on the plane together and met at baggage claim. We said our gratitude's and he gave me his name and number and we parted on our separate ways.
You see my friend felt as though I was the giver and I was ...I SAW him, I listened and sat with his pain, I bought him water and a cookie, and I assisted him onto the plane but as much as I gave, I received even more because he gave me a heart connection! He gave me the spirit of Christmas, the reason for the season. The universe made it so our paths crossed that day so we would both feel a heart connection so we both would receive love! This is the biggest gift this season offers!

In the stillness of the night my Heart can be heard. During
the busyness of the day my Head reigns! I am grateful for the opportunity to
observe the relationship between these two very important aspects of my human
experience.
My head has learned what it takes to keep life in some sense
of order, while my heart stands ready to help me use the tenderness of
compassion in all I experience. Maintaining that balance takes a lot of “paying
attention.”
During this holiday season, my head has decided to simply
assist my heart with creating ways to enjoy my family, friends, and to
genuinely appreciate the generosity of so many people. I have recently realized
that my head has finally become my friend and not a constant critic. Whew, am I
ever grateful for that major accomplishment!
As I sit in the quietness of my home and prepare myself for
a good night’s rest, I can hear my heart reminding me that Hope, Faith and
unconditional love spring forth when my head tenderly and admiringly shows love
and respect for my heart by simply listening.
What a tremendous gift!

Tis' the season for great mysteries. What to get Uncle Joe, how to handle the handmade sweater from Aunt Pearl that is 2 sizes too big, just to mention a few of the unknown mysteries of this time of year. It seems most people no longer wait until the holidays to ask for something they truly desire; they just whip out the credit card and buy it there and then. While it is great to know people are able to buy what they want, when they want, it does put a crimp in the holiday shopping lists. I can remember when my kids were thrilled with new long underwear for Christmas, that certainly wouldn't fly now.
I have never been much of a shopper, except at Christmas. The crowds never really bothered me during the holidays. I loved the festive decorations and familiar carols that filled the stores. I must admit this year I have waited longer to purchase gifts then ever in my life.
And so, the mystery of Christmas continues to pull me into this magical time of year when giving and receiving serve as reminders that life is, indeed, more joyful when kept in balance. It is not the dollar value of the gift, rather, the heart-felt intention by which it is given that provides the warmth. It is being remembered, even if it is a simple box of homemade goodies.
The great mystery of Christmas is really about keeping the true meaning of it in the forefront of our thoughts, words, and actions and to remember the amazing teachings of Jesus. Truly, he walked his talk, lived the words he spoke and he always found the best in everyone. Somehow he brought out the best in those that were otherwise labeled "misfits." The gift of of being truly seen for who we are is what opens our hearts and allows us to feel safe enough to truly venture into the Great Mystery of life! Whatever your faith may be, here's to a fabulous Holiday season.

There is a segment in the movie "Contact," where Jodie Foster looks into an opening in space and sees such a spectacular sight she begins to cry. Her face is filled with wonder at the magnificent display of stars and colors that all she can say is, "No words." As she continues to stare into the beauty in front of her, her face becomes that of the young girl who starred into the night sky with her father, and through tears she repeats, "No words." Her face returns to the young woman who had been catapulted into space and she concludes her observations by saying, "They should have sent a poet."
That scene came into my memory as I looked out my bedroom window tonight. An ancient tree, bare of all its leaves, is visible. It has various size branches that reach upward in all directions toward the heavens. It is cold outside as snow flurries gently fall from the sky, and something bright caught my eye so I walked to the window. What became visible was a million sparkling diamonds that dotted the clear night sky. The little dipper was directly in the east sky near the top of the stately tree, and all I could say was, "No words!" It was truly a breath-taking sight to behold such beauty. I could have taken a picture; however, it would not have captured the true beauty of the moment. What a truly amazing world Creator has given us. My heart is full!

Veteran’s Day was
yesterday and most of the country found beautiful ways to show respect and
support for those that have served and continue to serve our country. We are,
indeed, a blessed country with citizens that know how to be grateful for what
they have. Living in this great country is a privilege and honor and is not to
be taken lightly. It would behoove each of us to remember that Truth every
single morning.
In my opinion, there
is no greater honor to have then to live in a country where there is respect
for a divine being that created absolutely everything. To know this is to see
the connection we have with all things – human and nonhuman! What a marvelous
realization that we are part of something greater then what we human beings can
imagine. To know we are all made from one divine source certainly offers us the
opportunity to realize that what we think, say and do has an effect on
everything around us.
There is an old
story about a Grandfather telling his grandson about the two wolves that live
inside each of us that are vying for position. The Grandfather describes the
one wolf inside is angry and full of greed; it harbors resentment and
bitterness while the other wolf embodies love, compassion and clarity. The
grandson asked the Grandfather, “Which wolf wins?” and the Grandfather says,
“The one you feed.”
The question is, “what
wolf do you choose to feed, and what are some choices you can make
today to feed that one?” If each of us would consider those questions every
day, this nation would become richer, more prosperous, and more harmonious in
all ways.

Recent events in my
life brought that old saying to the forefront of my heart. There are so many
forms of “family” that continue to shape-shift the traditional interpretation
of that word. This shape-shift offers each of us an invitation to examine our
personal definition of family. As we do that, what may become apparent are the many
people in our life outside our
biological family that provide us unconditional love. These special people
share our unique views, listen when we need to share something that lies heavy
on our heart, and love us enough to be completely honest with us. These are the
people we choose to spend time with
because we feel safe. Dr. Phil would say they are our “soft place to land.”
This morning my
heart wishes to thank those “birds” with whom I flock as I meander through
life’s “adventures” and experience the full gamut of emotions that go with that
journey. With these beautiful, amazing
“birds” the sky’s the limit as I soar to new places and explore the new territories
of my wildest dreams.
There truly is no
limit to what the unconditional love of another person can do with and for each
of us. There is an old gospel hymn that goes, “on the wings of a snow white
dove, he sends his pure sweet love.” These “snow white doves” that help us find
our wings and soar, are truly a gift from our Creator!

It’s that time of
year when we dress little ones up in costumes and parade them around the
neighborhood. Each year the little ones in my neighborhood knock on my door and
hold out their plastic pumpkins, or paper bags to receive whatever “goodies” I
hand out. I went through a phase of considering handing out healthy treats,
until I realized its not safe to even hand out apples, granola bars or home
made cookies. So, now I just buy a bag of pre-packed treats and
let them take what they want. I figure their parents can discern what they want them to eat. My head understands the need to be cautious, while my heart feels
saddened we have to hesitate for a moment to consider if someone has done
something to the “treat.”
Personally, I enjoy
watching the little ones dress up in all sorts of costumes. It reminds me of
the years my children were excited about dressing up and collecting candy – to
them it was the one time of the year they could consume so many sweets. And the
costumes, how they enjoyed figuring out how to create an outfit … as I recall
we never bought a costume, they were all homemade.
There has been much
ado about the meaning of Halloween. To me, much like the other holidays
we celebrate, the meaning has been lost from all the debate, dissection, and interpretations.
From my observation, the fun comes from the excitement and the anticipation of
the event. Halloween gives communities the opportunity to knock on a neighbor’s
door, to see how much the kids haven grown and to maybe meet a new one that’s
grown enough to walk to your door. It’s really very precious to see an older
brother or sister accompany their younger sibling to the door. It’s an
opportunity to witness the spirit of sharing, of assisting a younger one with
finding their way in the dark, as Mom and/or Dad sit in the car or stand at the
edge of the yard and carefully watch.
Like everything else
in life, it’s one’s perspective that defines an event, and I choose to see the sweetness
of the grand tradition of Halloween. It is an opportunity to be reminded
someone is always willing to share old traditions, open their doors to their
neighbors, and hand out a treat. The balance is made with the gift received
from watching the young ones grow each year. If you live in a neighborhood long
enough, you get to see generations of kids bring their kids. What a grand
opportunity to witness the continuation of life unfold! So, here’s to Halloween
and all the spooky, beautiful, characters that show up at your door! May your
heart be full!

Wind blows fiercely as rain clouds fill the sky waiting to feed the earth. The young trees bend with the wind as the sturdy old ones stand steady as their branches wave and leaves dance to the music of the wind. Its howling and changing things up as I sit within the protective walls of my home. It reminds me of those "trees" in my life that have provided an example of what it means to be steady, trusting, knowing without a shadow of a doubt everything is in perfect order, regardless of the seeming "destructive" forces.
Life is changing, and with that change comes movement. I am grateful for the sturdy "Trees" in my life that helped me learn to how to be flexible, trusting, and remember that if I keep my roots firmly planted in knowing there is a "master gardener" in control, absolutely everything in life is in order! How grateful I am for the tree's in my life .... now its my turn to be a Tree for someone else!

After preparing the update to, This Moon, Weaves the Web has my heart dreaming! I am reminded how very blessed we are to have the ability to dream - and to actually see it come true. Over the years I have heard others tell me what a dreamer I am, and, you know, while his/her's words were said with a "pie in the sky" voice, I am grateful to have been seen!
I am a dreamer. I believe in the magic of life and that we have a Creator who smiles when his/her's creation realizes the gifts awaiting our acceptance. There is nothing we have to do but accept the abundance of love, beauty, possibilities, and the list goes on. Even the holy scriptures speak of the abundance Creator/God has for each of us. To me, the humor is with we "humans!" We seem to fall asleep when we get on this planet and forget all about our birthright. Thank God if we pay attention, we eventually wake up!
I certainly am not speaking of some sort of "entitlement," instead, I reference the divine goodness that runs through our veins. Indeed, there are individuals/groups that show little if any outward sign of goodness; and yet, a vastly larger number of people in this world show our true, divine nature. In essence, it really is up to us what we choose.
As I prepare to settle into bed for the night, it is my dream we re-member how to dream. Or, at the very least, we give it a try. No doubt we will find our life feeling more positive, more upbeat simply choosing to see if dreaming works.

Here’s something
that has been weaving through my heart and head – the focus on women. Being a
baby boomer I have witnessed the changes from a society where only men were seen
as the leaders to one that embraces the gifts a women has to offer. It has been
interesting to watch women choose careers outside the home, actively stand up
for equality and decide for themselves whether to become a mother. It is no longer a given, it is a choice, and,
rightfully so. A child deserves to come into this world as a gift to their
parents.
During my lifetime I
have watched women come from behind their husbands, stand beside them for a
brief time, then move in front of them. I have witnessed the family dynamics
change as traditional roles “shape shift.”
As is the case for
any thing that changes, the pendulum swings from one side to the other until a
balance is found. What my heart hopes is society stays focused on equality for
all – on the balance.
Of recent, I have
heard people talking about women like they are the answer to our societal
dilemma. The only answer is when every person has respect, compassion and love
for each other. For when there is a “superior” there is an “inferior,” and that
only leads to an eventual up rise.
I hope the women and
men of my generation (and those that come after us) will teach their daughters, sons, granddaughters,
grandsons, nieces and nephews, the importance of respect for the gifts each
individual brings to the world. For that is when harmony will become our balance point, and who doesn't want that?
Lastly, I hear the
use of the expression, Divine Feminine, associated with women only; that shows
a misunderstanding of Divine Feminine. And what about the Divine Masculine?
Well, obviously that’s a topic for another time! Until then, consider your role
in helping your corner of the world truly respect the gifts women and men bring
“to the table” from which the community will feast.

I had a conversation
with a long time friend I had not talked to in a very long time last evening. While
catching up with each other’s lives we got on the subject of our sons and their
significant others. I must admit it felt both affirming and disconcerting to
have our observations the same.
The world is
changing and with that comes the polar opposite of what has been the norm. We
all know this, and yet, it still touches the human heart when old traditions
that were built on respect take a turn in the opposite direction. We both
decided we loved our sons and whatever journeys they are on, we know, without a
shadow of a doubt they will be just fine.
We know this because
we taught our sons there was something greater then themselves always with
them, to have respect for women, a strong work ethic and to love their family.
We did this with our actions, not just our words. Somehow in that short
five-minute conversation about our sons, my heart found peace.
The rest of the 45
minutes was the usual giggles about the memories of our youth and the humor in
everyday life. Finally we chatted about the grand transitions that come with being a grandmother; being
able to tell it like it really is, the lumps, sags, lines and most of all,
the comfort that comes from finally not really caring what others think … well,
almost!
What I know is life unfolds, and with the love of a true friend, we can laugh, cry, be angry and end up giggling about it all!
