Sometimes 2 ....

Life needs no explanation, it simply needs to be lived! With all the quirks, questions, quandaries, this really is an absolutely rich and full place to learn about love. From finding love to a broken heart, and all the in between places, there really is no grander place to experience all the emotions available for those willing to just "show up" everyday. I think the saying goes, "Life is the School, Love is the Teacher!" . . .  And so it is!

Sometimes ...

I wonder why some people speak so nasty and downright mean without consideration for those around them? How being downright disrespectful can seem to be acceptable.  And then, I remember that pain has many faces. I'm trying to discover ways to separate the "action from the actor," as the Dalia Llama suggest ... apparently I need a lot of practice to master that skill because of recent, life has been full of such "teachers!"

Game on!

Posted by: vkwspirit / Category:

Interesting,  my whole life I have always been one who sleeps well, and I have been of the inclination,  "early to bed, early to rise,  makes a person healthy, wealthy and wise! " Oh, sure, there have been a night or two when life presented situations when my mind wouldn't "click off;" however, they were few and far between.  Well, every since I returned from my west coast trip it has been another story.
And,  story it may be! Perhaps something is brewing within that needs the quiet, peacefulness of the night. My mind has been restful,  things are most definitely changing in my life;  however,  those changes are welcomed! I am very ready for a more peaceful, less busy life. The crazy making created from weeding through my mother's current life situation has consumed the majority of my retirement. While I am most grateful for the opportunity to assist her with the conclusion of her life, it has been extremely challenging. I must give credit to my years in education for the patience,  resourceness and organizational skills needed for this chapter.
In the darkness of the night, my heart is grateful for this amazing life, and for the continual reminder that absolutely everything we need is provided at the precise moment it is required. There is absolutely nothing that goes unnoticed by Creator! In the stillness of all that is, my heart is filled with the love and warmth of this awareness, and my faith and trust in the divine is renewed! As the changes in my life shapeshift, I welcome the newness ... who knows, perhaps I will become a night owl after all these years. I do know much magic plays at night! Ahh, if that's it, I say, "game on!" Anyone else want to play?

The Coastal Trip ...the rest of the story

Posted by: vkwspirit / Category:

Well, as is often the case, words elude me when I sit in front of a computer after the fact. It seems I have become dependent on the computer to record events rather then pen and paper. Therefore, attempting to recount the daily events seems to bring only pictures of the places rather then the details of what specifically occurred.
To be perfectly honest, it has been difficult to answer questions about the Coastal trip. Perhaps it is because of the sensory “intake” is still absorbing the beauty. As most of you know, I absolutely love nature, and the diversity of beauty along the west coast is like trying to describe making love for the first time, there simply are not words to adequately describe the experience. To truly understand the magnitude of such an event can only be understood by experiencing it first hand.
Perhaps in a few weeks, when I have had time to really absorb the experience I can write more about it. What I can say is Creator/God knows more about beauty then any poet, painter, songwriter on this planet! The last place we visited was Seattle. We stayed in a hotel in the center of town. As soon as I awoke, I took the steps to the rooftop to welcome Grandfather Sun. It was breath taking to look into the East as the skies became clear and blue, then look directly to the South and see Mt. Rainer regally anchored in the horizon. It was like observing God looking over his/her kingdom. If I had not seen it first hand I would have thought someone photo-shopped the picture. Here is this massively busy town with cranes in place to add new buildings and Mt. Rainer is sitting in the backdrop. Absolutely amazing! I was humbled by the experience; it was as if I had met God.

That is all I can say at this time. I hope all of you are enjoying the warmth and beauty of the summer season. And, most importantly, you all are enjoying the festive gathering of friends and family as the “fruits” of the early summer gardens begin to offer their richness to us.

The Coast-1 & 2

Posted by: vkwspirit / Category:

I am going to do my best to post the daily events on this coastal adventure. First, I'll be posting on my tablet, so please be patient with funky and/or strange words. I'll certainly do my best to proof; however, do not want to spend all day typing with one finger!
We landed in San Francisco to beautiful weather. This is my very first trip to CA and it is as magical and diverse as can be imagined. Our first stop was to pick up the rental car.  Many of you know I selected a convertible; I mean how can two women drive the west coast any other way?  As "luck" would have it, when I asked if they had a mustang, they just "happened" to have just received one complete with a GPS device at no extra charge.  (That's really "sorta" funny considering the price of this baby for eight days.)
We went directly to the Muir Woods, it was crowded, foggy, and many of the Standing Ones (trees) we're like none I've ever seen. The bark removes itself in various patterns that reveal various hues of brown. It was breath-taking for this tree lover.
Next we went to Napa Valley ... actually, Sonoma, we officially began our recreational part of the trip.  How amazingly beautiful to see vineyard after vineyard of the fruits used to provide the tasty liquid that has become a common past time. While drinking wine has been around since pre-biblical record, its resurgence has brought the gathering of people to a spirited reunion. We met a wine guru who spent 2 hours sharing bits and pieces of what he had learned during his 38 years in the business.  It was a delight to observe a person speak so passionately about what he/she loves.
Spent the night in a very old and unique hotel that was designed to replicate an evening in Paris. I have pictures I'll share, the decor and pillows were the best features of the place. whomever owns the place has learned how to make money without someone be present. The only people as saw were the cleaning ladies. literally everything was self-serve.

Day two took us to a sweet and quaint "Mom & Pop" place located in Valley Ford for breakfast. Oh how I loved that place ... it reminded me of the diner in the movie,"The Spitfire Grill," which, if you have not seen, I highly recommend. The waitress was a very interesting thing woman who had much on her heart,  I was grateful for her willingness to be so forthright and vulnerable while sharing her story. Like most of us, she's learning new ways to move through life. She said she realized how fortunate she has been to live in a community where diversity is the norm not the exception. I found that a most interesting observation ... and yet,  she is still seeing something more unfolding in her life. Isn't that most interesting!
Spent the rest of the day driving the coast ... the mist from the ocean filled the air with dense fog as the winds blew dust everywhere. It is exceptional dry in CA from the lack of rain. It was amazing to see the trees leaning almost sideways as the winds blow strongly off the Pacific ocean. It certainly is an example of flexibility and resiliency in the face of circumstances outside one's control. Onto tomorrow ...
