No words

There is a segment in the movie "Contact," where Jodie Foster looks into an opening in space and sees such a spectacular sight she begins to cry. Her face is filled with wonder at the magnificent display of stars and colors that all she can say is, "No words." As she continues to stare into the beauty in front of her, her face becomes that of the young girl who starred into the night sky with her father, and through tears she repeats, "No words." Her face returns to the young woman who had been catapulted into space and she concludes her observations by saying, "They should have sent a poet."
That scene came into my memory as I looked out my bedroom window tonight. An ancient tree, bare of all its leaves, is visible. It has various size branches that reach upward in all directions toward the heavens. It is cold outside as snow flurries gently fall from the sky, and something bright caught my eye so I walked to the window. What became visible was a million sparkling diamonds that dotted the clear night sky. The little dipper was directly in the east sky near the top of the stately tree, and all I could say was,  "No words!" It was truly a breath-taking sight to behold such beauty. I could have taken a picture; however, it would not have captured the true beauty of the moment. What a truly amazing world Creator has given us.  My heart is full!

Which do YOU choose?

Veteran’s Day was yesterday and most of the country found beautiful ways to show respect and support for those that have served and continue to serve our country. We are, indeed, a blessed country with citizens that know how to be grateful for what they have. Living in this great country is a privilege and honor and is not to be taken lightly. It would behoove each of us to remember that Truth every single morning.
In my opinion, there is no greater honor to have then to live in a country where there is respect for a divine being that created absolutely everything. To know this is to see the connection we have with all things – human and nonhuman! What a marvelous realization that we are part of something greater then what we human beings can imagine. To know we are all made from one divine source certainly offers us the opportunity to realize that what we think, say and do has an effect on everything around us.
There is an old story about a Grandfather telling his grandson about the two wolves that live inside each of us that are vying for position. The Grandfather describes the one wolf inside is angry and full of greed; it harbors resentment and bitterness while the other wolf embodies love, compassion and clarity. The grandson asked the Grandfather, “Which wolf wins?” and the Grandfather says, “The one you feed.”

The question is, “what wolf do you choose to feed, and what are some choices you can make today to feed that one?” If each of us would consider those questions every day, this nation would become richer, more prosperous, and more harmonious in all ways.

Birds of a Feather Flock together

Posted by: vkwspirit / Category:

Recent events in my life brought that old saying to the forefront of my heart. There are so many forms of “family” that continue to shape-shift the traditional interpretation of that word. This shape-shift offers each of us an invitation to examine our personal definition of family. As we do that, what may become apparent are the many people in our life outside our biological family that provide us unconditional love. These special people share our unique views, listen when we need to share something that lies heavy on our heart, and love us enough to be completely honest with us. These are the people we choose to spend time with because we feel safe. Dr. Phil would say they are our “soft place to land.”
This morning my heart wishes to thank those “birds” with whom I flock as I meander through life’s “adventures” and experience the full gamut of emotions that go with that journey.  With these beautiful, amazing “birds” the sky’s the limit as I soar to new places and explore the new territories of my wildest dreams.

There truly is no limit to what the unconditional love of another person can do with and for each of us. There is an old gospel hymn that goes, “on the wings of a snow white dove, he sends his pure sweet love.” These “snow white doves” that help us find our wings and soar, are truly a gift from our Creator!
